1st Due House Fire
By Chief John Raley
February 22, 2010
At 2025 hours, a house fire assignment was alerted to 28625 Hancock Road in the 2-11 Box area bringing Stations 2, 22, 7, Truck Company 7, Charles 2 and EMS Station 29.
As units went enroute, additional info was relayed advising of a chimney fire. Fire Chief 2 (Raley)arrived on scene, side "alpha" of a one story, split-level single family with a working chimney fire. Engine 224 arrived next and laid in from Flora Corner Road and advanced an attack line to the residence. Rescue Engine 222's crew went to the roof and prepared to chain the chimney and extinguish the fire. Ventilation was handled by the crew off of Rescue Squad 2.
With all units from Station 2 working and the incident under control, command held the units from Station 2 and an ambulance and returned the balance of the assignment.
Units operated on the scene for approximately thirty minutes and Fire Chief 2 held the "Hancock Drive Command".
