New Utility on Order
Apparatus Committee , May 03
The Department Apparatus Committee has been busy building specifications for three new pieces of apparatus.
One of those vehicles is a replacement for our 2007 Ford F250 Utility vehicle. The committee decided on a Chevrolet 3500 Cab/Chasis with the pickup bed deleted. A Knapheide Utility body was opted to allow us to carry some equipment to make the vehicle more suitbable for our needs.

Nine MVFD members attended the Southern Maryland Volunteer Firemens Association (SMVFA) 77th Annual Convention on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Waldorf Jaycees. The convention kicked off with a memorial service honoring all the departed members of the Southern Maryland area for 2023. Seven of the honorees were from the Mechanicsville VFD and Auxiliary. Firefighter Softball Tournament

On Sunday, April 15th, the Mechanicsville Volunteers participated in a friendly softball tournament. This event was organized and hosted by the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department and also included the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department and the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department.

Quadruple Pull to Chaptico House Fire with a MAYDAY
Mechanicsville Volunteers, February 05
On Monday, at 1046 hours, Engine 2 and Tanker 2 were alerted to the 36300 block of Notley Woods Lane in Company 5s first due for a house fire.

Company Goes to Colton’s Point House Fire
Mechanicsville Volunteers, February 02
At 2000 hours Company 2 and several EMS Units were alerted to Point Lookout Road and Chaptico Road for an MVA with injuries. Rescue Squad 2 and Engine 23 will 11 volunteers quickly made the response. Upon arrival they found an occupant having a medical emergency. Ambulance 29 assisted the patient.

MVFD Hosting Public Hearing on Fire Tax Rate Increase

**PUBLIC NOTICE**
On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department requested authorization from St. Mary’s County Commissioners to hold public hearings and meetings to discuss a Fire Tax rate increase.
The Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the public hearing.
